NEIGHBOR-NET IN SEVIER COUNTY

The neighbor-net system is a very exciting new approach for providing broadband data to wireless users in the Planet Connect coverage area. The typical setup for the wireless system has the subscriber pointing an antenna toward one of the Planet Connect towers which are located in different parts of the county. With Neighbor-net a local repeater is placed in the neighborhood where several homes or businesses can easily point small almost invisible antennas at that location. This approach offers several advantages:

* Each location that receives the signal can use a very small antenna and still receive a very strong signal.

* The users can pass high-speed data between their locations without worrying about congestion.

* Locations that were unable to receive the signal from towers can frequently receive the neighborhood signal which is stronger in power and closer.
